about

Start Again is the most definitive work by this Artist Producer to date, which tackles some of the grittier aspects of modern life and presents them lyrically in a thought provoking if sometimes indirect fashion. It is a straight ahead rock album that aims to get back to the core definition of what an album project is supposed to represent. Included is a well balanced selection of songs, from engaging upbeat hooks to mid-tempo melodic anthems, which amply demonstrate his well honed multi-instrumental abilities, particularly as a songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and producer.

Track Name: Give Me a Reason
Give Me A Reason
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

I see you, you're looking away.
You don't wanna see me you don't wanna say "Hey!"
I'm looking through you, you're not really there.
There's something going on in your head somewhere
What does it take to turn your head?
Tell me what it takes to win you.

You won't give it to me,
You won't take it from me,
You won't even try.

Give me a reason why you're pushing me away,
Give me a reason why you're pushing me away,
Give me a reason why you're pushing me, you're pushing me away.

Fierce fisted ignorance is ten to the dozen,
Answers on a postcard, please, I don't want to know.
I'm hot with your arrogance, like I'm sat in an oven,
"All I want to do..." is everywhere I go.

You've lost your hunger,
And I've lost my taste.
You've lost your memories,
Of that time and place.

Give me a reason why you're pushing me away,
Give me a reason why you're pushing me away,
Give me a reason why you're pushing me, you're pushing me away.

(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

You've got a crush on me,
But I've got news for you:
You can't have me,
I've got better things to do.

You only want to be at one with someone.

I didn't mean to be cruel,
I just want you to see:
That I'm not the guy,
That you want me to be.

You only want to be at one with someone.
You only want to be at one with someone.

You've fallen in love with the facade I wear,
When I'm being nice, in public.
For the truth look in my eyes,
As they run with the headlines.

You only want to be at one with someone
You only want to be at one with someone

You only want to be at one with someone.
You only want to be at one with someone.
You only want to be at one,
You only want,
You only want,
You only want to be at one with someone.
You only want to be at one,
You only want,
You only want,
You only want to be at one with someone.
Track Name: Why Did You Never Believe Me?
Why Did You Never Believe Me?
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

You're looking through your halo,
Trying to find compassion in your nightmares.
You're looking through your window,
Trying to find a lesson in your losses.

Don't you think you ought to let yourself,
Open up to what you've left unsaid?

Why did you never believe me?
I only said we'd land on the moon.
Why did you never believe me,
When I said that I'd still love you when I'm famous?

You're trying to find guidance,
In a joke book you found scattered in the ashes.
You're living to a scripted plot that someone,
Wrote before your life existed.

Don't you think you ought to let yourself,
Open up to what you've left unsaid?

Why did you never believe me?
I only said we'd land on the moon.
Why did you never believe me?
I only said we'd land on the moon.
Why did you never believe me,
When I said that I'd still love you when I'm famous?

You're looking down the column for an easy life,
You want to let your legs go, honey, but your hands are tied.
You're searching for the memories of a place you've never seen,
You're looking for the key to your release.

Why did you never believe me?
I only said we'd land on the moon.
Why did you never believe me?
I only said we'd land on the moon.
Why did you never believe me,
When I said that I'd still love you when I'm famous?

Why did you never believe me?
I only said we'd land on the moon.
Why did you never believe me?
I only said we'd land on the moon.
Why did you never believe me,
When I said that I'd still love you when I'm famous?
Track Name: Waiting for the Day
Waiting For The Day
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

I woke up screaming with blood on my feet,
The whole thing felt so real.
I had the world out to get me in a twisted dream,
A real go nowhere ordeal.
Your blue strings caressed me as I made my last stand,
While your lights picked me out of the night.
And everyone forgot me as I flocked the land,
You said you’d always make sure I’m alright.

I think its all illusions baby!
I think its all illusions baby!
I think its all illusions baby!
I think its all illusions!

I’m waiting for the day when I can choose my desires,
I’m waiting for the day when I’m whole again.
I’m waiting for the day where we can stand up defiant,
I’m waiting for the day.

I woke up steaming with hot regrets,
I’ve been sleeping with the enemy.
A corporate monster with flash epaulettes,
Sapping all my energy.
I spend all day working for enough to live,
Wasting all my time away.
But now I got no reason to forget or forgive,
I’m getting out to make my future today.

I don’t need illusions baby!
I don’t need illusions baby!
I don’t need illusions baby!
I don’t need illusions!

I’m waiting for the day when I can choose my desires,
I’m waiting for the day when I’m whole again.
I’m waiting for the day where we can stand up defiant,
I’m waiting for the day.

I’m waiting for the day when I can choose my desires,
I’m waiting for the day when I’m whole again.
I’m waiting for the day where we can stand up defiant,
I’m waiting for the day.

I’m waiting for the day when I can choose my desires,
I’m waiting for the day when I’m whole again.
I’m waiting for the day where we can stand up defiant,
I’m waiting for the day.
Track Name: Last Bitter Tear
Last Bitter Tear
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

She's laying down her morning lies,
She can't get away enough.
She wants answers to argue why,
Gives you the back hand of her love.

She's gonna break you!

She's laying down her last bitter tear,
Then she's making for the door.
She's running from her last bitter tear,
She can't love you any more.

She's wiping off her morning cries,
Trying to find the fragments in the dust,
Of the memory of her happpy life.
Gives you the back band of her love.

She's gonna break you!

She's laying down her last bitter tear,
Then she's making for the door.
She'd have you drown in her last bitter tear,
She can't love you any more.

She wants somewhere else to be,
She cant ask you to set her free.

She's laying down her last bitter tear,
Then she's making for the door.
She's running from her last bitter tear,
She can't love you any more.

She's laying down her last bitter tear,
Then she's making for the door.
She'd have you drown in her last bitter tear,
She can't love you any more.
Track Name: Sunday Morning
Sunday Morning
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

You see the world in chapter & verse,
You see the future through a hazy glass.
You take for granted every line you rehearse,
But you can’t see the gestures of your past.

I have solutions on the tip of my tongue,
But I don’t know how to pass them on.

We go down on a Sunday morning,
For the last sip of summer sun juice.
You love the sound of a Sunday morning,
As it captures it’s reflections of you.

You have an appetite for far away places,
In time and space invented in your head.
You get a fix from finding new faces,
And playing their games in your bed.

I have solutions on the tip of my tongue,
But I don’t know how to pass them on.

We go down on a Sunday morning,
For the last sip of summer sun juice.
You love the sound of a Sunday morning,
As it shines out reflections of you.
You give the world a backward glance,
As we focus on the past on Sunday morning.

You’re searching for the places that you buried in your head,
But you’re never going to find them ‘coz they’re not in your bed.
You know we’ve got the answers and you know we got solutions,
But we know you’re playing games ‘coz you keep telling us the names.

We go down on a Sunday morning,
To the open stranded garden paradise,
For the last sip of summer sun juice.
We go down on a Sunday morning,
To extract the optimism from your eyes,
As the scheme shines reflections of you.
We go down on a Sunday morning,
For the last sip of summer sun juice.
You love the sound of a Sunday morning,
As it shines out reflections of you.
You give the world a backward glance,
As we focus on the forecast on Sunday morning.
Track Name: Concrete Boxes
Concrete Boxes
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

Concrete boxes and toxic skies,
An information super-high.
Crowded people along for the ride,
No direction, stolen lives,
People scatter folding paper,
Waiting for their token waiver,
Ambition lost to scaling labour,
Imagining invented saviour.

I don't think anyone's got a brain in their head!

These seven years of concrete boxes have made me numb to you.
These seven years of concrete boxes have made me numb to you.

There’s no idols any more.
Justified lies in lazy law.
Nobody held in awe,
Technological overhaul.
There’s no leader in the light,
To capture public eye.
No captain of the flight,
Remembered for the fight.

I don't think anyone's got a brain in their head!

These seven years of concrete boxes have made me numb to you.
These seven years of concrete boxes have made me numb to you.

There's seven years of concrete boxes in all I want to do.
There's seven years of concrete boxes in all I want to do.
These seven years of concrete boxes have made me numb to you.
These seven years of concrete boxes have made me numb to you.
Track Name: Gimmick
Gimmick

(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

I scrimp and scrape and I write my music,
As I rattle on down the Tube.
But I know its goin' nowhere, coz the kids have got no money,
Coz they put it all into you.
This is my blood sweat and tears,
To you its a life of fun.
As I worry about my music,
You wonder how it's done.

There's a “big man” up top,
He's making all the right moves for you.
He think's its the way of the future,
Thinks he's pullin' something new.
As the kids grow up today,
They don't know what quality means.
Coz they're parting with their money,
For the shit they see on telly and their,
Brains are turning to beans.

Over this Gimmick.

I see you trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
I see you trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

As I drive through the city,
Your name's up in the lights.
I don't know how you made it.
No-one even thinks its right.
I read your interview,
You're telling me it's getting hard.
Perhaps its not for you?
Perhaps you should have been cleaning cars!

Gimmick!

I see you trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
I see you trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

I scrimp and scrape and I write my music,
As I rattle on down the Tube.
But I know its goin' nowhere, coz the kids have got no money,
Coz they put it all into you.
You might be today's flavour,
But tomorrow you'll be out the door,
Wallowing in your failure,
Coz it's written on the wall.

You're a Gimmick.

I see you trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
I see you trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
I see you trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
I see you trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
Track Name: Little Miss Hookey
Little Miss Hookey
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

You get up and put your face on,
And then you're gone for the day.
You screw me to the wall,
For an hour each day.
You lip line my high line,
And then you blow me away

I don't know where you're going,
And I don't know where you've been!

Little miss hookey,
Little miss hookey,
Little miss hookey,
Cookie.

You let down your wrap-round,
And you show me the way.
You tie down my lie down,
But I know that's okay.
You pour wine on my mankind,
And you go for a taste.

I don't know where we're going,
And I don't care where we've been!

Little miss hookey,
Little miss hookey,
Little miss hookey,
Cookie.

You get up and put your face on,
And then you're gone for the day.
You screw me to the wall,
For an hour each day.
You lip line my high line,
And then you blow me away

I don't know where you're going,
And I don't know where you've been!

Little miss hookey,
Little miss hookey,
Little miss hookey,
Cookie.

Little miss hookey,
Little miss hookey,
Little miss hookey,
Cookie.
Track Name: Follow Me
Follow Me
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

You think you're unbreakable,
I think you're a porcelain pig.
You think you're unstoppable,
I think you're making me sick.

Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!
Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!

You have it out with me.
You call me the killer,
Of great things.
You never knew,
How to have fun anyway.
You pass it over me,
As you head out the other way.
I wish you'd just learn to,
Follow me, Follow me.

Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!
Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!
Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!

Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!
Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!
Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!
Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!
Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? I must be crazy!
Follow me, Follow me.
Who are you? Cra-aaaa-zzzzyyyyyyyy!
Track Name: You Want To
You Want To

(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

Sordid sex on Telly-V,
Another mile high fantasy,
Another chance to get at me,
Coz no-one else would let you,
Open up your heart to them.
Sensationalise another Gem.
Hypnotise your ten percent fools.

You know you want to.
You know you need to.
You know.

Everybody wants a piece,
Of interactive ecstasy.
Sellotape monogamy,
To everyone they fancy.
You're no exception babe,
You're smelling of my aftershave,
You want to lay me on your slate,
To consume.

You know you want to.
You know you need to.
You know you want to.
You know you need to.
You know.

Everybody looks at me,
Tells me that I'd be a fool,
To turn down your act.
I'm confused.

You know you want to.
You know you need to.
But you know you're wrong to.
You know you're wrong to.
You know you want to.
You know you need to.
But you know you're wrong to.
You know you're wrong to.
You know.

Sordid sex on Telly-V,
Another mile high fantasy,
Another chance to get at me,
Coz no-one else would let you.

Open up your heart to me,
Sensationalise your fantasy.
Concentrate your mind,
On your moves.

You know you want to.
You know you need to.
But you know you're wrong to.
You know you're wrong to.
You know.

You know you're wrong to.
You know you're wrong to.
You know you're wrong to.
You know you're wrong to.
You know.
Wrong to.
You know.
You know.
Track Name: Start Again
Start Again
(Words and music by Allan Dawson)

Welcome to the errors of your ways,
Your last chance to fix was yesterday.
Your compulsion to twist has spun you along,
Diluted your sense of right or wrong.
Diluted your sense of right or wrong.

Walk away from yourself,
Put your morals on the shelf,
Walk away from yourself,
And start again.

You wonder when you last took time to say:
“Where am I heading for today?”.
When did you last sit back and ask:
“What’s left that’s precious from my past?”.
“What’s left that’s precious from my past?”.

Walk away from yourself,
Put your idols on the shelf,
And start again.
Walk away from your restless -
Opinions of yourself,
And start again.

You only ever twisted for the pleasure of it,
To stick was just the easy way.
Now your morals and your idols got the better of it,
You only ever see the same.

Walk away from yourself,
Put your morals on the shelf,
And start again.
Walk away from your restless -
Opinions of yourself,
And start again.

Walk away from yourself,
Put your morals on the shelf,
Walk away from yourself,
And start again.

Walk away,
Walk away,
And start again,

Walk away from yourself,
Put your morals on the shelf,
And start again.

Walk away,
Walk away,
And start again.
